Fifteen Things That Matter the Most in the Making
of Great Principals ($65)
This workshop reveals what the
most effective principals do differently than
their colleagues. Focus will be on fifteen areas
that the most successful principals do that other
principals do not, why these areas make them more
effective and how to immediately implement each
of the practices in a school setting. No pre-requisites.

#294: RtI/Problem-Solving/FLEX ($35)
Early intervention helps schools
meet the needs of diverse learners, and is now
mandated by state and federal guidelines, which
has implications for the entire school system.
This Academy focuses on early intervention, data-based
decision making, student outcomes and collaborative
problem-solving and how they impact the classroom
and staffing. Prior to this academy, complete
two brief activities: 1) Familiarize yourself
with the website http://www.illinoisaspire.org.

Course
#488: Educating Students with Autism Spectrum
Disorder
(ASD) ($35)
This course will help prepare
administrators provide a proper learning environment
for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
The course will identify the core deficit areas
in the Autism Spectrum Disorder. Administrators
will learn how the deficits impact learning and
behavior. Strategies and activities that support
learning for students with ASD will be reviewed.
Participants will need to write an action plan
that discusses how the participant will use this
information to improve student learning in the
building/district.
Please note: Prior to this program,
participants are to read two articles. They can
be found on the website http://www.paulakluth.com.
The two articles to be read are “Hanging
in There,” and “Calm in Crisis.”

Course
#598: Social Emotional Intelligence: When NCLB
Is Not Enough ($35)
This course will provide participants
with tools and research to infuse Illinois Social-
Emotional Learning Standards across any curriculum
as a tool to improve school culture and student
achievement. Participants will become familiar
with the Illinois standards for Social and Emotional
Learning (SEL), will understand the need to infuse
SEL across the curriculum, demonstrate understanding
of strategies for integrating and infusing SEL
across the curriculum, and write a plan for dissemination
of workshop information to school staff. There
will be several journal reflections so that participants
can write ideas of how best to implement SEL in
their building.
